Offshore Oil Drilling

Well, obama seems to have lifted his ban on drilling offshore on the US east coast and off the northern shore of Alaska.

Why, when this guy is a true-blue socialist, who additionally wants continued US dependence on his muslim friends for our oil needs?

More than anything, (now that obamacare was passed by congressional socialists) obama wants his "Cap and Trade" bill to pass. He'd like that to pass with much less of the difficulty that obamacare faced.

So, he wants desperately, to get some Republicans on board with the C & T bill.

What better way to get some Republicans- than to dangle before them a carrot consisting of the offshore drilling relaxation. But Republicans need to be wary of this sheep in wolf's clothing. Once they vote for the C & T bill, obama will revert to his anti-offshore drilling promises that in part, propelled him into the White House.

Republicans should insist on separate bills and not support a C&T bill that has offshore drilling as an addendum to it. Republicans should also insist that an offsohre drilling bill be signed before the C&T bill so that obama cannot reneg.

Here's why you know that obama is not serious about his apparent offshore oil gesture... he's exempted California. That state is bankrupt. It could use the flow of money into the state that the oil would bring. But it is apparently too much to ask CA to help itself... they will continue to leech off the largesse of the other 49 states- you know, redistribution of the nations wealth so that more of it goes down the sinkhole known as California.

Even after liberals succeed in requiring everyone to rear beanies having the energy-providing propellers on top, they will not be satisfied.

Who's to Blame ?
As democrats celebrate their 'victory' in passing the obamacare bill into law, the nation seems stunned that the government takeover of the health industry is completed.

Just whom can be blamed for obamacare becoming law ?

It falls on the shoulders of two entities...

Firstly, the blame falls on the American people themselves. It was the people who listened to obama campaign, and heard him tell about how he would transform the nation. But it was such a novelty for a black guy to be running for president. Even some black conservatives admitted that they had voted for obama, because he was black- and they didn't know when they would ever get another such chance to vote for a black guy for that job.

The American people also voted-in their members of the House. They could have elected an opposition (Republicans) to be a check on the Executive branch- but they chose not to.

Secondly, one can blame the Republicans for the mess we are in, with this obamacare. Why? Because when the Republicans last held the House, what did they do? They spent money as if they were democrats. The people wanted the "change" that obama was offering, and the Republicans were the engine that caused the people to seek that change.

So here we are... the nationalization of one industry after another is in progress. The electorate can only stand by and wait for the next House election (November) and for the next presidential election (2012) to begin the correction process.

Disapproval of Obama
The trend continues.

Whenever obama makes a major speech on his obamacare, whenever he goes out among the people to plead his case, his approval numbers hit the dirt.

So obama took ultra-liberal dennis kucinich on a plane ride, and promised him that obamacare would eventually convert into a fully government-run industry... and he went on FOX News for an "interview" with Brett Baier. That interview was contentious because obama wanted the audience for his prolonged campaign speech. Baier would have none of that, and so it was not a completely friendly interview.

As a result of obama going before the people again, his Rasmussen Index hit the very low value of -20:

Television Auto-OFF Option
My TV turns itself off, automatically, whenever it hears itself utter any  of the following headlines:

North Korea wants to sit down at the bargaining table;

Palestinians urge peace with Israel;

Obama Repents from Socialism;

Iran wants to engage in talks on nuclear disarmament.

I'd rather watch the Yankees lose their 10th in a row to Tampa Bay, than to listen to such tripe being broadcast as news. Not one of those headlines can be taken seriously... and those who created the headlines surely had motives other than what the headlines profess as serious truth.

Wait 6 months, and headlines such as those, automatically repeat themselves.

Rahm Emanuel and the Real Problem
The LWP is making a big thing out of congressman Massa's expose` that Rahm Emanuel aggressively approached him while both were nude in the shower.

The LWP seems predisposed to focus on the nudity angle, when they might better think about the ramifications for Separation of Powers.

I don't care about the nudity angle. Much more disconcerting to me, is the fact that someone from the Executive Branch goes to the location of the Legislative Branch and verbally (and maybe physically) intimidates a legislator. Why isn't that the real story here?

How would the press treat a situation like someone from the Executive Branch heading over to the Supreme Court and intimidating a Justice there while in the shower (or for that matter, in an office)?

The LWP should re-think this 'scancal.'

Obama Keep Talking

The White House is pushing for a March 18 vote on obamacare. They are acutely aware that if congress goes home before the vote, then they will get more than an earful from their constituents- at least among those of congress with the courage to hold townhall meetings.

So, obama is out on the stump again, but this time, campaigning not for his job, but instead for his obamacare monstrosity. Of course, every time this guy talks about his master plan to destroy capitalism and replace it with libero-socialism, his approval takes a big hit. Take a look at his most recent approval index, according to Rasmussen...

Republican Failure?
If the obamacare healthcare monstrosity of a bill passes the House and the Senate, clearly the primary blame belongs to all those democrats who ignored what the people wanted, and installed the huge socialist program anyway.

But almost equally liable, are the Republicans. Yes, they'll probably consistently vote against the bill, but their liability lies elsewhere.

Republicans should have insisted that obama demonstrate his qualifications for the presidency... just as McCain had to do. Democrat protestations notwithstanding, there is no official evidence that obama is a US citizen, and there is less evidence that he is a Constitutionally-required "natural born citizen."

Republicans have been cowards, because of all the loud noise democrats make when this citizenship issue is brought up. It's distasteful to think that obama does not meet the qualifications. But it is even more horrendous to think that the people who are supposed to check these things out, just refuse to do the work.

The fact that no one knows the curcumstances of obama's birth, and no one is concerned about the Constitutional check, means that the democrats and the Republicans are to blame for all this socialist crap this potentially illegal alien is passing.

Conservatives ?
Most people would not hesitate to call Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin Conservatives.

Well, they are. They certainly are not RINO's. Even if you take into account that you will never agree on all political issues, these two Conservatives do indeed have in common, at least one major lapse in judgment.

They both support John McCain for re-election as senator from AZ. In fact they ardently campaign on his behalf, against McCain's nemesis, J.D. Hayworth.

The fact that both Romney and Palin are such enthusiastic supporters of McCain, causes a lot of Conservatives to disregard the efforts of these two, to become future presidential candidates. Their ability to make Conservative judgment calls on major issues, is very much in question.

Here's a recent statement from Romney, concerning McCain:

“I know Senator McCain. I think his experience in the military, in the Senate, and the wisdom and judgment he has developed over a lifetime is something we need in the Senate.

That statement alone eliminates Romney from further consideration as president. Why? Because Romney thnks McCAin showed wisdom in pushing McCain-Feingold as a means of circumventing our Bill of Rights; Romney believes McCain's desire for amnesty for illegal aliens (esp. from a senator from the border state, AZ) is a wise position. Romney thinks McCain is wise in the way he handled the push for Conservative Justices for the Supreme Court. And those are just for starters.

Mitt & Sarah will have to settle for a lot less than the US Presidency.

Remedy
There is a remedy for what ails the people when they see that their government wants to steer to the left, while most everyone else wants to steer slightly to the Right.

That remedy is a Constitutional Amendment, requiring selection of House members on a Statewide basis according to population, in a random fashion- as we do with jury duty. A 1-year term is all that would be needed. It would be cheaper too, to pay each selectee according to his/her wages at the time of selection, and to pay a 1-year sum to the selectee's employer, for a temporary replacement. Public housing and transportation to the Capitol building to be paid for by the government.

A second remedy is to shut down the senate by Constitutional Amendment. The Constitutional duties like appointment of judges and ratification of treaties, etc., can be handled by periodic meetings (electronic or physical) of the 50 states' governors.

Protection ?
According to FoxNews,

"Two Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon jets were scrambled to assist an American Airlines passenger plane shortly before it landed at London's Heathrow airport on Tuesday after a woman attempted to gain access to the flight deck."

Passenger_Plane_with_Escort.jpg

Look, I've got a very simple message for you... If you are on a passenger jet and someone tries to gain access to the pilot's cabin, those jets that are scrambled, are not showing up to "assist" you ! Their purpose is to protect large concentrations of people who are on the ground... people in skyscrapers and in schools and in churches, etc.

If you are such a passenger, you are expendable. Think about it... if necessary, those military pilots can only shoot your plane down. There's just nothing else they can do. Get used to it if you have to fly.
